Cool for August

Locally the temperature has not risen above 20 Celsius for a number of days. While this is a pleasant respite from the usual heat of the day, from what one can ascertain this run of cool wet weather is far below average for the coming Labour day weekend. Is that volcanic plume still causing problems?
